Dharanshala
is the main town of kangra valley with
Dhauladhar mountains range.Theis place is famous
as it is the home place of Tibetan leader Dalai
Lama.It is onr of the base camps to explore the
nearby mountains. |
Here has somany colourful temple and Gumphas which reflect
the culture of Tibet. The Kangra museum gives an overview
of the rich past of this hilly region and the institutes
which have been established to preserve the Tibetan
art, cultures and traditions.

Kangra Art Museum :
This plaec reflects the treasure of Kangra valley's
arts, crafts, and rich cultural past.The museum includes
a gallery of famous miniature paintings style and a
huge collection of sculptures, pottery, and anthropological
items.
Dall Lake:
This beautiful lake is surrounded by high and green
Deodar trees.It is situated just 11 kms away from the
town and easily approachable.This is a very popular
picnic spot too.
Tatwani & Machhrial:
There is a hot springs at Tatwani which is just 25
km from Dharamsala and very near to Bhagsunath temple.
The Shrine of Bhagsunath:
It is Just 11 km from Dharamsala where an ancient
temple of Bhagsunath is there.Many fresh water springs
are also there very close to the temple,
Dharmkot:
Dharmkot is 11 km from Dharamsala, located on the
top of a hill.It is a very popular picnic spot which
gives a panoramic view of the Kangra valley and Dharamshala
town.

Macleodganj:
This place is very important in administrative
point of view for the whole Kangra valley.It is
also the headquarter of the Tibetan Government.This
is also the main trade centre of tibetian carpet,
handicrafts. Here in the monastery,one can find
the life size statue of lord Buddha, Padmasambhava
and Avaloketeshwara.The School of Tibetan Studies
offers the rare manuscripts and ancient texts. |
Masrur:
There are fifteen richly carved monolithic rock temples
in this place which are quite similar to the Kailash
temple at Ellora.It is just 15 km south of Kangra.
Triund:
Triund is a very popular picnic spot located at the
foothills of Dhauladhar range.Thiss also a trekking
spot.
Trilokpur:
Trilikpur is just 41 km from Dharamsala where one
can view an unique natural cave temple of lord Shiva.
Sujanpur Tira:
This place is famous for the wall paintings, temples
and fort. It is 8 km from Dharamsala and in the festival
of Holi,there is a major event to attract visitors.
Jawalamukhi:
This temple is dedicated to the "Goddess of Light".It
is one of the most popular Hindu temples in northern
India.Inside the temple there is a copper pipe through
which natural gas comes out and the priest of the temple
lights this and the blue flame is worshipped as the
manifestation of Goddess. The temple is topped by a
golden spire,which had been gifted by Mughl Emperor
Akbar.
Nurpur:
There is a ruined fort and a Krishna temple at Nurpur,which
is finely wood carved.The place is named after Mughal
Empress Nurjehan.It is also famous for fine pashmina
shawls and textiles.
