Shimla was one of the hill stations where the British established to escape from the scorching heat of the plains.The little village of Shimla, has become the glamorous summer capital of the British, in India.The enchanting climate, easy accessibility and natural attractions of this place have made it one of the most popular hill stations in India. One can enjoy the splendid views of the show-clad hills of Himalayas, walking through the deep long oak forest and flowering rhododendron,golfing at Naldehra and skiing at Kufri and Narkanda .

Places of interest

The MallL :

It is the Main shopping centre of shimla with old colonial buildings.The Gaiety Theatre is the main center of cultural activities.Ridge and adjoining Lakkar Bazaar is popular for restaurants,wood crafts and souvenirs shops.

The Ridge:

It is the large open space in the heart of town,gives an excellent view of the surrounding mountain ranges. The Christ Church and the new-Tudor library building are also nearby places to see.

Himachal State Museum :

It is a colonial building set in spacious lawns.It has collections of Pahari miniatures, stone sculpture, local handicrafts, textiles and embroidery etc.

Jakhoo Hill :

This Shimla's highest peak which offers a panoramic view of the town. An ancient "Lord Hanuman"temple is also there.

Glen :

It is a nice place for recreation which is located in the thickly Wooded Glen and beside a sparkling stream.

Summer Hill :

Summer Hill is located on the Shimla - Kalka railway line.It offers a shady walks in surroundings with charming views.Mahatma Gandhi stayed there during his visit to Shimla in the elegant Georgian House of Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur. The Himachal Pradesh University is also situated there.

Chadwick Falls :

Just beyond Summer Hill The chadwick fall is there,surrounded by thick forests.

Propect Hills :

The hill offers a spectacular views of the area.Its a A 15 minute climb from Boileauganj.There is a little temple to Kamna Devi on the top of the hill.

Sanjauli :

Sanjauli is ideal for a weekend.There are fine some fine spots and the lights of both Shimla and Chail can be seen twinkling at night.

Daranghati Sanctuary :

The sanctuary is located in the upper hilly area of Shimla district. It is the place where one can see a wide range of wild animals very closely.This is also the ideal place for trekking.

Sankat Mochan :

On Shimla-Kalka road, it is a famous "Lord Hanuman" temple.It gives a clear view of Shimltown.

Tara Devi :

It is on Shimla - Kalka road and a holy place as tara devi temole is situated on the top point.

Fagu :

It is on the Hindustan-Tibet Road. It gives a enchanting view of himachal valley and also a famous spot for family recreation.

Narkanda:

Narkanda gives a spectacular views of snow ranges.One can enjoy an uphill trek through Deodar woods leads to Hatu Peak.An ancient temple of Hatu Mata is there. HPTDC organise skiing camps in winter there.

Rampur :

Once,Rampur was the capital of Bushahr, the town is situated on the banks of river Satluj.Famous International Lavi fare is held every year in November.Dumgir Buddhist Temple, Padam Palace, Raghunath Temple, Ayodhya temple and Narsingh Temple, are the main place of attraction.

Mashobra:

Mashobra is surrounded by thick forests and a ideal place for weekend tour and trekking. Here the goddess Durga temple is worth seeing.

Naldehra :

Naldehra is on Shimla-Tattapani road. A nine hole golf course is there. Ancient Nag temple is also situated here.

Tattapani :

Tattapani is famous for the hot water springs which having sulpher contents. Shiv Goofa at Saraur and Hindu temples are the places where visitors can enjoy.

Chindi :

It is a beautiful place in Karsog Valley.Here the main attractiona are Mahunag Temple,Mamleshwar mahadev Temple, Kamaksha Devi temple, Pangna Killa/temple and Shikari Devi Temple
