Mandawa
Mandawa was settlled in the 18th century
and was a bussy little market town. It was fortified
by the dominant merchant families and became a popular
destination for the tourists for the antique shops
ans other commodities. |
Mandawa is famous for the
Havelis and Binsidhar Newatia Haveli is one of them where
one can find some curios and paintings like "a boy
using a telephone" and " an " europian woman
in a car driven by a chauffeur" etc. Gulab Rai Ladia
Haveli is another famous haveli for defaced erotic images
of Shekhavati painting style.
The place is mainlt famous
for the grand Havelis and Shekhavati style of paintings.
The major themes are hindu mythology, history, folk tales
etc. The original colors used in the paintings are ochre-based
like blue, maroon, yellow, green, indigo etc.
