Pushkar
According to Hindu mythology Lord Brahma
created the Universe and has chosen Pushkar as the
site for performing a Yajna or sacrifice.It is considered
as one of the holy lands in India. The devotees wash
away their sins by bathing in the holy water at Pushkar
and 52 bathing ghat are ther for this purpose. |
PLACES OF INTEREST
Pushkar Lake
The lake is situated on the edge of
the desert and surrounded by hills.It is separated from
Ajmer by ‘Nag Pahar’or the snake mountain. Panchkund
or the cave of the saint Agastya is located there only.
It is also believed that Kalidas,the 4th century famous
sanskrit poet and playwright, had chosen this place to write
the masterpiece "Abhigyanam Shakuntalam".

Pushkar
Fair It
is one of the most famous and colorful fairs of India.
Its the biggest trade place for horses, camels, cows
and bulls. One can enjoy the famous camel-cart races
and cultural events. Clothes, household items and
leather goods are exhibited here during the fair.

Annual Camel Fair
Every year there is big fair organised
here which is the largest camel fair in the world.
Man Mahal
This was the former residence of Raja
Man Singh of Amer, which is Presently converted to RTDC
Sarover Tourist Bungalow.
