Udaipur
is the jewel of Rajasthan. The city
was ruled by the Sisodia dynasty for
1200 Years. There is a story behind
the foundation of this beautiful lake
city. One day, Maharana Udai Singh,
the founder, was hunting in a jungle
when he met a holy man meditating
on a hill overlooking the Lake Pichhola.
He blessed Maharana and advised him
to build a palace in the lake. Maharana
followed the advise and founded the
city in 1559. |

| The
City Palace |
Its a majestic architectural structure over
the lake. This palace was built by Maharana
Udai Singh and his succesors. The courtyards,
pavilions, terraces, corridors, rooms and
hanging gardens everything give the best
look in its own and unique style. The main
entrance is the "Hahipol" or te elephant
gate which is a triple arched gate. The
"Barapol" or the grate gate leads to the
eight arched "Tripolia" where Maharana were
weighed in the gold and the equivalent amount
was distributed among the people. |

Lake Palace |

The Lake Palace is considered as one
of the most beautiful palaces in the
world It was built in 1754, which
is the greatest example of the fusion
of Mugal and Rajput architectural
style.
The royal banquet rooms are converted
to reception rooms, bars and restaurants
and the apartments named the Bada
Mahal, Khush Mahal, Sajan Mahal, Phool
Mahal and the Dhola Mahal etc.

This is basically a fountain garden made
